Listening comprehension is crucial to student success in learning to read but very often overlooked. I would like to continue to offer this important part of reading instruction through my listening center by providing my students with CD players and books on CDs. My project will foster a love of literature and reading by providing students with quality picture books and a listening center that they can enjoy. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in their reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in this our listening center, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
