As a Behavior Specialist I support 620 students, K-5th, to be the best they can be through choosing positive behavior. Close to 90% of these students live in poverty, 65% are English Language Learners, and a growing number are affected by trauma and have high ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) scores. My students overcome A LOT of obstacles just to come to school every day and my passion is to help them succeed when they feel that they can't. When basic physical and emotional needs aren't met it's hard to feel motivated to learn or try something new. That's why building meaningful relationships with them and teaching them self-regulation strategies is the key to helping them unlock their potential. Year-to-year I am moved by their growth of spirit and mind and they give me hope for a bright future!
