Our school is currently piloting an ELA curriculum model called "Readers Workshop." This program focuses on developing strong readers by supporting children reading through "just right level" books. This model incorporates short model lessons, independent reading, and teacher-student conferences. Additionally, I took part in a summer institute to learn how to successfully implement the guided math workshop model in my classroom. This model focuses on students being actively engaging in hands on mathematics. In order to implement both Reading and Math Workshop in my classroom this year, my classroom needs an easel to use during our model lessons to develop anchor charts. Students will also be able to use the easel board as a way to demonstrate their ideas to their classmates.
