Below average readers need more motivation! Students sit in chairs all day in their homerooms, they will be immediately engaged upon entering the room just by the excitement of seating options. Once the bean bag chairs are refilled, students will be eager to sit on them. After introducing all the materials, students will get to choose a seating option, like the ball chairs or stools, that they feel will help them concentrate the most. Students will be able to sit and work on the floor or at a low table with the floor cushions or at a table with a variety of seats.
I only have my students for 45 minutes a week, I want to do anything I can to increase their love for reading. With the materials I am requesting, I will engage them in meaningful and memorable reading centers that will allow scholars to learn through hands on activities. The LCD boards and the buzzers will motivate students to participate in the lesson. Center time with the fun manipulatives will engage all of my students kindergarten through fourth grade.
