I teach some amazing 8th graders in Math 8 course and I have the opportunity to help groups of 6th and 7th graders in the Math Lab. Freedom Preparatory Academy is a charter school located in Provo, UT, which is in a mid-size city setting. The student population of Freedom Preparatory Academy is 1,391 and the school serves PK-12. At Freedom Preparatory Academy, 36% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 39% scored at or above that level for reading. The school’s minority student enrollment is 54%. The student-teacher ratio is 17:1, which is worse than that of the district. The student population is made up of 51% female students and 49% male students. The school enrolls 41% economically disadvantaged students. There are 81 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor.
