These materials will make a difference to my students by giving them hands on experience working with renewable energy sources. The solar energy kit will provide students with a deeper understanding of how a solar cell converts energy from the sun into power that can potentially be used for a variety of purposes. Additionally, the windmill activity lab will give allow students the opportunity to build s windmill that converts wind power into useable energy. These lab investigators will be the catalyst for student’s research and solution based inquiries to tackle real world energy problems. Giving students opportunities to investigate alternative energy sources while looking for ways to help their community is the big idea of this project. Through this inquiry based learning, students begin to see themselves as vehicles of change for their community and for the world. It's not just about grades and test scores. It's about inspiring students to become active citizens to make a better world.
