I love my Falcons and it is my goal to build a library of classroom sets so that we don't have to ask these KIDS to BUY their own novels. Many of my students have to borrow them from public libraries or go scouting thrift store after thrift store. Then after several weeks of searching they break down and order them from Amazon. I get it. You see the name of our school and think, "it's just another rich charter school looking for money." I had the same misconception before stepping through those doors. According to the Center for Education Reform and a slew of other places, "Nationwide, charter schools are funded at approximately 64 percent of their district counterparts, averaging $7,131 per pupil compared to the average per pupil expenditure of $11,184 in traditional public schools." It is because of this that I ask you to donate just $5. Every small piece matters! :)
