My students need a comfortable and inviting space where they can easily find the right book for them. Bins to organize our classroom library by reading level will help kids choose a book that best fits their reading skills. A few magnetic buckets will display books on a whiteboard so students can share their favorites with classmates and include a personal note about how and why it was important to them. Reading is a window into new worlds and experiences that can inspire and shape learning. Providing comfortable bean bag chairs, movable floor seating and a cozy carpet will allow students to get lost in a book. Caddies of sticky notes, colored pencils, and note paper will provide opportunities to be inspired, taking note of a challenging word or something new they want to investigate further. The book titles I have selected are a few classics and favorites, and some have been used in recent years as part of our district's Battle of the Books. I have chosen these few to enhance our library and help students build connections while exploring new adventures outside of their everyday experiences.
