This class set of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" will be used by 3 sections of a 4th grade class in my Reading class. Your donation will insure that each of my students is able to physically hold the book while we read together as a class each day. In order for students to achieve literacy goals, it is imperative that they are able to follow along while I read aloud to model fluency, and for them to be able to read on their own and easily refer back to the book while analyzing the book and working on comprehension skills. Each of my students will use these books every day in class as we read aloud in a whole group setting, and then as we break into small groups and delve deeper into the novel to study literary elements such as theme and point of view. Reading fun, challenging, and engaging books like Harry Potter is critical to both a student's academic success and confidence as a learner. It takes the kids on an amazing journey that fosters a love of literature that will stay with them for life!
