My school is a public school that serves a low-income community. Some students who enter my classroom are already behind their peers in reading and math. The students and parents are enthusiastic about learning, but do not always have the materials (manipulatives, writing utensils, etc.) to work on reading, writing, and mathematics outside of school. With strategic planning and hard work my students will make significant gains to leave 2nd Grade on grade level or above in math and literacy.
