My students are in kindergarten in a substantially separate classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. My students bring with them a wide variety of skills and backgrounds, and constant adaptation and flexibility are a must for their ever-changing needs. They require a high level of support from myself and my incredible aides all day, and safety, increased independence and communication, and teaching self-regulation skills are our focus. Having a successful autism program requires appropriate materials, knowledge of evidence based practices, support, flexibility, structure, and teamwork. Unfortunately in a high poverty district, proper materials are difficult to obtain. I have created this page because I believe my students and my staff must have materials that will help gain my students gain independence and increase their skills. Thank you for supporting my amazing students! They are our future!
