About my class

My students are in kindergarten in a substantially separate classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. My students bring with them a wide variety of skills and backgrounds, and constant adaptation and flexibility are a must for their ever-changing needs. They require a high level of support from myself and my incredible aides all day, and safety, increased independence and communication, and teaching self-regulation skills are our focus. Having a successful autism program requires appropriate materials, knowledge of evidence based practices, support, flexibility, structure, and teamwork. Unfortunately in a high poverty district, proper materials are difficult to obtain. I have created this page because I believe my students and my staff must have materials that will help gain my students gain independence and increase their skills.
