Our school services many low-income families. Many of these students do not have internet access at home or access to computers to work or learn on. In a digital age, many of these students start out far behind their peers in knowing how to use technology or how to access information. This gap only increases every year. In addition, 60% of my students have learning disabilities or health impairments that affect their ability to learn. There are currently no computers in my classroom. Several of my students have disabilities that make writing information difficult for them. While I strive to create a learning environment that is exciting and engaging, technology would provide students another avenue to pursue that is one they are already interested in.
