I am one of the lucky few educators who are blessed to teach in the smallest public school in the state of Kentucky. Augusta Independent School educates students from P-12, so when students enter our school they become a part of a family of sorts. My classroom is a safe haven for many of my students. Students know that they are always welcome in my classroom even if they're no longer my student and have moved on to highschool (across the hallway) :-).. MANY of my students are a part of the low income population. Our school participates in the backpack program where we supply children with food over the weekend so we know they have something to eat. My physical classroom is maintained through lots of practiced organization building skills. I strive to have a bright, interesting and nurturing atmosphere.
