This project will allow my students to have an environment that enhances their focus and attention. Many of the students are dealing with attention deficit and other emotional issues. These issues make it difficult for them to complete all the given tasks during the school day. My hope is that by making the classroom feel more "homey" my students feel safe and more productive. This will, in turn, increase their own self-esteem and self-worth. My classroom currently includes an old couch that students find as a good location for group discussions. Additional seating, such as bean bags, would create a larger discussion area within my classroom. Office chairs that move freely would also create a more versatile space.
