My 5th Grade class consists of 26 students, with 8 boys and 18 girls. We live in Manawa which is a small, rural town in Wisconsin. Our class is energetic, creative, and insightful. We have worked to develop our classroom community by having daily meetings, developing Growth Mindset goals, and sharing compliments with others through small gifts such as kindness quilts. We have also taken on leadership roles as "secret ninjas" who do random acts of kindness in our building. Although we are from a small town, my 5th Graders like to "dream big" and enjoy opportunities to investigate topics that are meaningful to them through our Genius Hour projects. Finally, my students love to read and find books that connect to their own lives. When we earned a PBIS reward party, my class requested to have a reading day where they were able to spend the morning getting lost in a book.
