The upper elementary school years can be difficult. One of the most challenging steps from elementary to junior high is keeping track of assignments. The ability to manage and organize work/assignment materials is a necessary life skill that will benefit students far beyond their formal academic years. I have students who struggle to find and turn in assignments because they lack the necessary skills and organizational tools. By providing them with some simple tools (such as take home pocket folders and plastic desk work pouches) and strategies, my students' confidence will blossom as they begin to taste the success that comes from being able to follow through with an effective work plan. These along with other needed classroom materials like inch/centimeter rulers, dry erase markers, protractors and eye-catching colored paper, will enhance my students' experience and put them on the road to positive academic achievement!
