I am a kindergarten teacher in Virginia. A large number of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and a growing number of these students are English Language Learners (ELLs) as well. No matter their socio-economic circumstances, our students still have to meet the same state standards as anyone else. More often than not, this requires work on our part to make sure that these little ones have a solid foundation in early reading and math skills. Our students thrive when they can engage with materials that allow them to interact with one another, they learn through doing and utilizing academic language. I appreciate the chance to provide them with the materials to further their education.
