My students come from various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. My school is located in an urban area in Mississippi, which lends to the diversity of backgrounds. Some students come from single parent homes, whereas others come from 2 parent, middle class homes. Some have had private school experiences, whereas others have been in public school all of their lives. Our school is ranked as a Successful School; however, we still lack the funding to provide every student with textbooks to take home, and we lack the money to fully fund our science department with the proper equipment to teach these students.
