Our class needs more options for flexible seating. 31 desks and chairs in one classroom feels cramped and crowded, which does not lend itself well to collaboration and free thinking. Our class has started to bring in more options for flexible seating such as a Big Joe chair, a round web chair, stability balls, tables lowered to the ground with pillows to sit on, desks on bed risers for students to stand and work, counter height stools, overstuffed living room chairs, etc. But, we would love to have a table with stability ball chairs for group work. Research shows that flexible seating helps students learn and improves test scores. Your generous donation will provide another comfortable option for students to choose as their determine their best learning environment in our classroom. These stability ball chairs will give students the option to work in a space that allows their bodies to be in motion while they learn. Studies show that movement in the classroom improves productivity because students are able to burn calories, using up excess energy, which leads to increased metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, improved oxygen flow to the brain, better core strength and posture...it's no wonder that increased physical movement leads to better academic performance!
