My students will use the iPad daily throughout math and science. The Osmo app will also allow me to take my students' learning to the next level. Osmo is an innovative kit in which allows students to interact with manipulatives such as number tiles, tangrams, and coding tiles in ways unthought of a few years ago. It is equipped with a base that the iPad attaches to. Once this is attached, there is a projection area that students show their work in and use a hands on approach to create. Students are able to problem solve using their own strategies, and they will get immediate feedback to help them adjust their thinking. Osmo is an amazing tool that allows kids to be innovative, independent learners, and critical thinkers. My students get super excited by the new technology and hands on activities that the iPad and use of the Osmo Genius kits offer. With all types of learners in my classroom, this is sure to benefit each and every student. The iPad will be a welcome addition to my busy classroom! There are endless possibilities for expanding my student's learning. Not only can I use it to help me keep track of their progress through digital portfolios, but we can also expand the walls of our classroom through apps such as Skype. It can serve as a stand-in for me as I record directions for learning stations, or students can use it for QR code scavenger hunts on whatever topic we are studying. It will be the next but thing to having a teacher clone in the class!
