My classroom at Central Middle School in Kansas City, Kansas, is a place where seventh- and eighth-grade students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate ideas, and see themselves as scientists. With a crime investigator theme, we approach science like detectives—gathering evidence, analyzing information, and explaining our discoveries. My students bring different strengths, experiences, and learning needs to our classroom. I work to create a welcoming environment where every student feels valued, supported, and comfortable trying something challenging. Through collaboration, inquiry, and connections to everyday life, I help students build confidence in their ability to understand the world around them. Access to classroom supplies and science materials helps turn curiosity into meaningful learning. With donor support, I can provide more opportunities for students to explore concepts firsthand, make discoveries, and share their thinking. My goal is for every student to leave our classroom knowing that their questions matter and that they are capable of learning and succeeding.
