My school has a leadership focus, and our mission statement is "Learn, lead, and leave a legacy." My students have embraced this mission, and I am so proud of the leadership they demonstrate every day. They come to school and greet me with a smile and a handshake each morning ready for whatever I might throw their way. I aim to integrate 21st century skills such as collaboration, creativity, problem solving, and communication into our daily activities to help them grow as leaders and to prepare them to handle any situation they might have to face. I am finding more and more that if I can present my students with a problem to solve and an authentic audience they will rise to the challenge and come up with solutions that I never would have imagined.
