Our school is 97% low income with students who mostly have no resources at home to help them. So, when they come to school we try to give them everything that we possibly can. Their reading abilities are on average a year and a half behind. We are a 21st Century Learning school, in our first year of turnaround. Most of our teachers are first year teachers, as am I. As first year teachers we of course are low on materials to provide students to help them learn on different levels. I am trying to incorporate technology as much as possible into my classroom and by doing that, I need to reach out to the community and ask for help. Technology is the new way of learning for most students. It is what they are most interested in. If I can input this into their learning, their want to learn will be there.
