My 21 First Graders are an enthusiastic group of learners who represent a wide variety of cultures, learning styles, levels of English proficiency, and levels of learning skills. They enjoy creative projects and especially thrive when they can see visual representations of the standards they are learning. For example, every day we use our rich Math curriculum to review past skills and introduce new skills through projected images and videos. This would not be possible without the help of an LCD projector, which allows students to focus and pay attention to the lesson. A projector is also an extremely valuable tool for when I model such things as how to proofread writing. When I project the images, all the students can see exactly what I am doing. We need a new projector so that we can continue to support our visual learners and motivate students to stay engaged through videos and other projected images.
