With these individual letter tubs students will have the chance to handle maniuplatives associated with a particular letter and letter sound. Manipulatives will also enable students to sort objects according to letter and begin to discriminate their sounds. Hands on learning with physical objects increases engagement in young children, and creates a memory upon which they can continue to build knowledge and letter-sound associations. Utilizing the ABC tubs from Lakeshore learning as a supplemental material within my classroom will enable me to provide my students with individualized instruction and practice based on their needs. Students will be able to utilize the materials independently, and the materials will be available for self-led exploration as well.
