Being a leader in me school, flexible seating will allow each student to be proactive and take charge of their learning by making choices that will work for them. By allowing my students to choose where to complete independent work or reading a book, they will take ownership of their work and try to do their best. Currently, I allow my students to choose where they want to read and do their independent work which usually consists of laying or sitting under desks with clipboards, or standing and leaning over their desks. Having my students comfortable is key to motivate and keep them engaged. I already see a difference in engagement since allowing my students to choose where they sit and they are getting more work finished that is better quality than when they sat in regular seats. The items I have selected will give my students the ability to choose where they want to sit and the power to choose. They balance balls will allow the students to to get the wiggles out while sitting in a different chair completing their work. The comfy floor seats and pillows will allow those who prefer to sit on the floor comfortable. Giving my students the choice to sit where they want has had a positive affect on my students behavior, demeanor, and classwork. I hope that by having more flexible seating, I will continue to see growth and my students to stage engaged!
