This past year in the classroom when we were celebrating a student's birthday I had a student state, "I wish someone would make me a special treat for my birthday." I realized then that I needed to provide my students with more opportunities to celebrate each other. In our classroom, we will be able to mix the ingredients using the bowls, utensils, and measuring spoons and cups to create a unique birthday treat for all of my students on their special day. My students will be able to create and bake in the Cookie Convection Oven for each individual within our class. The students will then have an opportunity to take and decorate the treat and make it unique for each person in the classroom. Lastly, a visual timer will help the students plan. It will allow them the opportunity to know when the treat is done baking and then let them know how long it will take to cool down before they make it unique for their classmate. This will help even the youngest students in the classroom understand time and help them with routine and structure.
