The four novels that I am requesting in Spanish for my Dual Language students will provide them with a window to view and experience various writing styles such as Reveldes (The Outsiders), Los Juegos del Hambre (The Hunger Games), El Hacha (Hatchet), and Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). Spanish literature will provide students with the opportunity to gain the academic language skills and literature knowledge to take Advance Placement (AP) classes in high school. The ultimate goal is for all of them to take and pass the AP Spanish Language and the AP Spanish Literature assessments in high school to gain 10 university units.
