Due to the fact that our school is one of the lowest scoring 300 in the state, we have an extended school day so that we may include an hour of targeted intervention. This additional time is used so that I can meet with small groups for a 2nd time but rather than working on guided reading, we specifically target phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, etc. I want to make sure this additional time is used to it's fullest potential. We need 6 tablets along with headphones and protective cases. Since the point of the time is to rotate and meet with various small groups, at any given time, 3/4 of my class is on their own doing other work while I work with my group. I feel that rather than giving the students worksheets to complete after they meet with me, they would highly benefit from educational applications on the tablets.
