Our school is a newly reopened school with a high English Language Learner population. Within our first grade classrooms, 17 languages are spoken. I teach students that are refugees, students that are first generation immigrants, and students that have little exposure to English outside of school. 66% of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch. My students come from various cultural and economic backgrounds, but all of our students need vocabulary and language skills to excel academically.
