Alternative seating allows students to learn in a manner that sparks creativity and helps make them feel comfortable by making choices within the classroom. During independent reading and writing time students are allowed to move around the room to find a good-fit spot. Currently, students are sitting on the floor around the room or using clipboards as they work on writing. With the addition of portable laptop desks and bean bag chairs, students are provided with more options to allow for movement within the classroom. This allows students the independence to make good choices for their learning, to become more engaged with their classwork and complete higher quality of work.
