My classroom is full of exceptional 3rd-5th grade special education students in the STARS program. STARS stands for Successful Transitions Achieved Through Responsive Support. This specialized program provides a smaller classroom setting than a typical general education classroom, while still providing the same academic instruction. Social-emotional learning and executive functioning skills and strategies are embedded into our school day to support students with moderate disabilities so that they can find academic and behavioral success on their path to graduation.
