My students just finished the first book of the Terupt trilogy, Because of Mr. Terupt. They are sitting on pins and needles waiting to see what happens in the next 2 books. The books will be used for small groups and during guided reading. We will use the books for character analysis, figurative language, literacy skills. My students can relate to the characters in the books. My students find themselves and their friends in the characters which gives them more motivation to persevere when the reading becomes difficult. My reluctant readers want to continue reading even if it is difficult.
