I teach children that are not successful in the general education classroom. Many times the beginning skill that must be worked on is the basics of reading. If it doesn't work one way, I try another until they are successful. Even after finding a way to learn to read, hands on and repetition are key for my students. So in order to ensure they don't get board and associate this with their reading, I must be sure to keep the lessons and activities of high interest.
