I would like to use these books during Distance learning to help provide students with authentic and culturally relevant texts. Through read alouds within Distance learning we can begin engaging in deep discussions around diversity. We will develop empathy and appreciate our uniqueness. We live in a diverse society. Children's books should reflect that. By donating to our project, my first graders will be able to see their lives and experiences depicted within my read alouds. My students will develop a love for reading. Each book was intentionally selected to learn about the world in which they live in. My emergent readers will be immersed in authentic literature. The rich vocabulary they will hear will add to their dual immersion learning experience. I will use each book to plan collaborative conversations,use the books as mentor texts to support their development in writing and create some amazing art pieces to reflect their ideas learned from the literature.
