I teach at a public elementary school in a very rural, low socioeconomic area that has little or no access to funding opportunities. My students are excited to begin a new year in a new class and are looking forward to having the resources needed to facilitate their learning. The teachers in my building do everything we can to provide an engaging learning environment for our students. We have such a love for our students that we compensate our classroom shortcomings with money and items from our own homes and pockets. We want the best for our students and with the recent shift in our educational standards my class is lacking the necessary supplies to effectively meet those standards. I would like to not only meet the standards , but far exceed them and get my students interested in all facets of education!
