We have made the best with our low budget by making film cameras out of cardboard boxes, created studio backdrops stands out of PVC pipes and soft boxes out of cardboard. Currently, we only have five cameras to share among our 135 photography students. For our large class sizes, that leaves us with one camera for every six students. With so few cameras, students cannot check them out for homework. Three more cameras would increase the amount of time 33% more time to photograph by reducing our camera to student ratio to 1:4! It will also give us enough cameras to designate a few cameras for students to checkout for out of class assignments on weekends. Their creativity and ingenuity drives them to create beautiful art with these very low budget materials. I can only imagine what they would be producing with more of the basic necessities of photography.
