The materials I am asking for would allow my students to self-checkout books from our class library. The iPad will allow my students to fill out a Google Form in which they will describe the book they are taking home. When they bring the book back, they will be able to check it back in using the same form. Eventually, my hope is to do this with QR codes in order to allow the students to simply scan the codes on the book they wish to take home. The 3-tier cart will allow for a library check-out and return station. On it, the iPad will be on the top, with two shelves for students to return their books once they are done. With so many students and so many books within my classroom, this will allow me to keep track of who has what book(s) at home and to ensure that the students are returning the books so others can have an opportunity to read them. Additionally, it will give the students a sense of responsibility with a set system in the classroom. By utilizing this system, students will be able to fully use the class library to explore books that they don't otherwise have at home. The students will benefit from this project by allowing them to freely enjoy the books that are within the classroom. Right now, they are not able to take books home because we do not have a system within the classroom. By donating to this project, the students will be able to take their learning home and continue to strive as readers. This will help them practice their reading skills and apply what they have learned in the classroom in order to become the best readers they can be.
