The students in my classroom have shown an increased interest in coding. Through the use of CS First by Google, my students are able to create coding projects. My 6th grade students watch videos and listen to tutorials to help them create music and sound projects in Scratch. They are struggling to mix their own music and add sound to their programs, as headphones are breaking daily. My 7th grade students are watching tutorials to create their own series of video games. They are struggling to add sound effects because they can no longer hear the information. My 8th graders are using RobotC to program our robots. They enjoy watching the tutorial videos again to assist when they have errors in their programs.
Our original headphones were donated through a grant, but are 5 years old. We are replacing headphones daily. The new headphones we purchased are falling apart, causing students to have to listen to their videos without headphones. The students enjoy watching the tutorial videos to create their own projects using Scratch. Without working headphones they are struggling to hear the tutorial videos or add music/sounds to their projects.
