When sensory needs are not met, students have a difficult time siting still through a half-hour lesson. This behavior can disrupt the lesson and other students. When students are distracted and have difficulty paying attention to what people are saying and doing, they miss out on important skills that need to be learned. When sensory processing needs are not met, students can have difficulty in school. The sand will assist manipulation skills, provide sensory impact, and sequence steps. The Sensory Dough will help the students develop and understand their senses because the dough is stretchy, pliable and soft. It is meant to help creative and expand sensory exploration. The Translucent Sensory Rings help sensory play and motivation through the illumination on light tables. They inspire exploring light, color and texture. They are also durable for student interaction. The Squish & Squeeze Sensory Beads are appealing to my students because the beads are sticky and fun to mold. The students can experiment by folding the beads into different shapes and using the different colors. The Metallic Sensory Slime is a popular item to stretch out and explore sensory fun with a no-mess slime. The slime provides tactile exploration as students can squeeze, twist, fold and pull it. The jars are also resealable. The balls and inflatable roll can help with fine motor control and stress reduction for the specific students in my classroom.
