With these tablets, the students will be able to access several websites that will aid my instruction in class. They've been excited to try websites such as Sumdog and IXL Math. Having this technology in my room will allow me to reach more students in my class during their independent work time. The students will also be able to work on group projects such a researching different game boards, how they were made, and create their own based on different math concepts. This kind of projects lets the students have higher level thinking as well as applying what they currently know to a fun assignment. The students will also be able to research information that will allow them to take ownership of their learning. The traditional setting of a classroom involved the students listening to the teacher lecture for majority of the time, but this will allow my students to work together and talk about the information in groups. This will put me in a facilitator position and allows the students to become more invested in their work.
