I am currently using a 15 year old webcam to teach two 30 minute reading groups and a 50 min group lesson M-F for the entire summer. Soon I will know who my students are for next year. I am planning on adding a new 50 min group to start teaching my new students through distance learning as soon as I get their information.
Having an updated webcam will allow my students to see the books, whiteboard work, and me clearly when I teach. I can't wait to stop hearing, "Can you move closer to the camera, it's too blurry?"
The use of whiteboards is instrumental to my teaching. Students will be able to work on math, phonics, science and more at home. Many of my students do not have paper to work on at home. With these whiteboards students can show me their work and I can give them feedback.
After the summer I will then use the whiteboards and webcam to work with my students if they have problems with homework, need tutoring, and/or we return to distance learning instead of classroom instruction.
We live in a digital age and I have to keep up with technology to keep my students learning. Thank you!
