Heads Up for Headphones provides students with engaging learning and independent practice through having headphones to utilize their iPads without disturbing the classroom environment for other students working at a different pace with their technology. Student at low literacy levels are more engaged in learning with the visuals and audible prompting that technology provides, yet in taking advantage of technology, students are frustrated over not being able to hear audible prompts or having someone else's device too loud, thus being distracting. When writing, students in First Grade are often discouraged at not being able to think of ideas or words to express ideas, yet when enabled to record and draw their writing with an app, students are more creative and excited about showing their work. All of this is facilitated by the headphones with microphone recording, as students can work independently without distractions. One student using this, who previously sighed at having to write, exclaimed, "I love to write!" Students with your generosity, will put their "heads up" to learning with headphones!
