Not only can we get a hands-on (and feet!) understanding of multiplication and division through exploring rows and columns... We can work with place value (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands), area and perimeter! The different colors also will correspond to our table groups, and allow them to easily find their seat during Read Alouds, Classroom Meetings, and Presentations. It will facilitate discussion with partners during pair-share, and allow students to "vote" with their feet for up to 5 choices in answering questions. We can also visually display data we collect through those votes and also represent problems they encounter in their textbook, naturally helping us create bar graphs!
