My students are 8th graders in Brooklyn, NY. They come from a diverse community and many come from homes where English is not the first language. They are very enthusiastic about my class, yet need real support and resources in order to engage with meaningful books and literature. The interest is indeed there--but the resources are not. I do my best to supply them with as many books, paper and supplies as possible, but it isn't always easy!
