Hi, I am Mr. Wesley. This is my fifth year teaching as I am a retired software engineer and retired contractor. My mother was a teacher, and she was right - teach when you are done with your other career ... I teach middle school Computer Science in Oakland, CA. Over 70% of the students are English Learners. Almost the entire student body is eligible for free or reduced meals. In class, the students study computer science, Sketchup, 3D design and printing, chess and more. My goal is to provide a pu pu platter of STEM activities to let them experience a sample of what they can do in life. My school year started with 150 kids learning chess for critical thinking, and then Sketchup. On those days when work is complete, many of the most kinesthetic students are eager to play chess.
