For my reading centers I have students record themselves or a partner reading to each other on a iPad and they must listen to the recording together at the end. The goal of this activity is to have them focus on one area of reading fluency, and practice improving it with their center partners. During my math centers I have students participate in various websites or games such as Khan Academy or Prodigy to help differentiate math instruction for them once we break into groups. I use all of this data to further differentiate my lessons by having students meet me during small groups.
The use of the iPad charger and charger cables will be extremely beneficial to my students because as a teacher I strive to introduce as much technology as I can within my lessons. However, my iPads are stored in another room that isn't easy to get to throughout the day, and by the end of the day the battery is dead or close to dying. So I haven't been able to use technology consistently in my classroom.
In addition, the kickball set and kick balls would be essential to not only my class, but to the entire fifth grade. Everyday during recess these students play kick ball with other classmates that they don't normally see throughout the day. Not only does this allow for physical exercise, but for opportunities to learn very important lessons in teamwork and create interpersonal connections that may last a lifetime. However they have small multicolored cups they use as bases, and a soccer ball. It put it simply, they do not have the proper equipment to play.
Lastly the laminating pouches and five subject notebooks allow for both student enrichment, and to provide for the needs of my students.
