In fulfilling this project request, students will have access to quality educational reading content. These books will challenge students academically, but will more importantly awaken their imagination as readers, writers, and storytellers. The books were chosen not only to fit within the theme of the year and work hand in hand with other content, but with the intention of pushing students to be the best versions of themselves. Themes of morality, justice, equality, and freedom abound. Kids will use these books to compare to other genres and media, as well as practice fluency and comprehension skills. With these books we will hit nearly every common core reading standard by designing group projects, incorporating musical and visual arts based lessons, as well as creating extension activities for those students who need to take their learning deeper.
