My fourth and fifth graders love to learn and come from diverse homes and backgrounds. A majority of my students come from families who are recent immigrants to the United States. For many, English is not the primary language spoken in their home. My students families are so very supportive and want the best for their children, but because of language and economic barriers, many of my students struggle to obtain the extra support, materials, and opportunities they need to strengthen their reading skills. Over 60 percent of our students come from low income households. However, even with all the challenges that my students face, they are all wonderful hardworking kids who love to learn, discover, and read!
