Our school is in south Seattle and has over 70% of students who receive free and reduced price lunch. It is also full of students who have tremendously inquisitive minds but often lack the resources both at home and within their academic lives to fully apply what they are learning. Too often what we learn and do here at school is thought of as "stuff that happens at school". Students often don't connect what we learn to their lives and the outside world.
